Greyhound’s commando dies of electrocution due to trap laid by poachers for wild animals

Seethakka and MLAS Bojju participated in the funeral of constable

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 12, 2024: In a shocking incident, a police belonging to the elite Greyhounds (commando) constable A Praveen (35) died of an electric shock, which was laid to trap wild animals in the jungles, during his combing operations in Mahadevpur forests of Kataram mandal in Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district on Monday early hours.

In the wake of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and entire cabinet colleagues, MLAs and MLCs proposed visit to Medigadda project site on Tuesday, the Greyhounds police were conducting the combing operations in the forests to ensure area domination and weed out Naxalites. Mr Praveen, who was combing the area, came in contact with live wires erected by the poachers to ward-off wild animals and died on the spot.

In the meantime, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members. He also assured assistance to the family members. On the other hand, Minister for Panchayat Raj minister Seethakka and Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju paid tributes to Greyhounds constable Ade Praveen, whose final rites were held with full State honours at Rajulguda, a hamlet under Mankaguda in Narnoor mandal in Adilabad district on Monday.

Seethakka paid floral tributes and assured all support to the bereaved family members of the constable of the elite anti-Maoist force of Telangana. The legislator promised to extend help from the government. He said that Praveen was a role model to tribals, but his untimely demise shocked him. Collector Rahul Raj and Superintendent of Police Guash Alam participated in the funerals and paid tributes.

A pall of gloom descended over the habitation, following the death of the constable. A large number of residents of the hamlet voluntarily took part in a procession carrying the body of the constable.

They recalled accounts with him. Praveen is survived by wife and two sons. He cracked a post in the greyhounds in 2012. Praveen came into contact with live electric snares set up by wildlife poachers and died on the spot on Monday.
