KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 17, 2024: In a tragic incident, a father lost his life while trying to save his two children from drowning the waters of Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir in Karimnagar town on Monday.
Sources said that Bonala Vijay, working as superintendent at Pay and Accounts department at Asifabad district ands resident of Ramnagar in Karimnagar town, along with his family members went to Potlapalli Sri Raja Rajeshwara swamy devasthanam in Husnasbad for darshan. During this return journey, they entered the LMD reservoir at Alunugur on the outskirts of Karimnagar town for taking pictures.
Suddenly, his daughter Sai Nitya and son Vikranth slipped into the waters. Vijay jumped into the waters to save the children. A fisherman Shankar, who noticed this rushed to the spot raising an alarm and rescued the children. But he could not save Vijay from drowning. His wife Prashanthi is shocked over the incident as her husband died in front of her eyes.
Manakondur legislator and DCC president Kavvampalli Satyanarayana visited the spot and consoled the bereaved family members. He also appreciated the courageous fisherman Shankar for saving the lives of children.
