Arrest two accused persons and seize ganja worth Rs 6.5 lakhs
HYDERABAD, MAY 11, 2024: The Prohibition and Excise State Task Force officials have seized 20 kgs of ganja worth Rs 6.5 lakhs and arrested two accused by intercepting their vehicle in Ghatkesar on the outskirts of Hyderabad city on Saturday.
According to Excise Enforcement Director VB Kamalasan Reddy, on credible information, the State Task Force personnel have intercepted a hired Zoomcar by notorious criminals, who smuggled the ganja from Chatisgarh and Odisha states. In order to avoid the police checking, the accused persons had concealed the contraband in the window frames by removing the fibre-sheets.
The Excise authorities opened the window fibre sheets and recovered 20 kgs of ganja concealed in the bags. They arrested Mohammed Saleem and Venkat Ballappa and two others were absconding. The Excise Additional SP B Bhaskar, State Enforcement and Excise superintendent K Naveen Kumar, DSP Tula Srinivas Rao, inspector K Venkateshwarlu, J Ravi, B Shiva, Nandini, A Shiva and others were also present.
