DCA officials seize falsely manufactured Calcium tablets worth Rs 1.5 lakh

Raids unlicenced medical shop and seizes medicines

HYDERABAD, JANUARY 04, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana seized Alcium-D3 Tablets (Calcium with Vitamin D3 Tablets) in Kothapet Village, Uppal Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, which were falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’.  Drugs worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs were seized during the raid.

In a separate event, Drugs Control Administration, Telangana raided a medical shop located at Allapur, Kukatpally, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, which was operating illegally without a drug license and seized the stocks on Friday.

In an official release here on Saturday, DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that the DCA officials have detected the product Alcium-D3 Tablets (Calcium with Vitamin D3 Tablets) circulating in the market. The product was found to be manufactured by Hindustan Nutraceuticals Inc., Plot No. 1, Sy. No. 581/1, Industrial Park, Uppal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District. The said product was falsely manufactured under a ‘food license (FSSAI license)’ (FSSAI. Lic. No. 10017047000796) and falsely claimed to be a food product/nutraceutical. According to the label composition of the product, it is classified as a drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Dr B. Lakshmi Narayana, Drugs Inspector, Uppal and G. Indira Priyadarshini, Drugs Inspector, Habsiguda carried out the raid under the supervision of  G. Sreenivas, Assistant Director, Shameepet (i/c). Drugs worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs were seized during the raid.

Raid Conducted at Unlicensed Medical Shop in Allapur, Kukatpally, Medchal-Malkajgiri District

The officials acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of medicines, raided a medical shop located at Shivaji Nagar, Allapur, Kukatpally, Medchal-Malkajgiri District which was being operated by Sarangi Naga Shiva  illegally without a drug licence.  During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale. 59 varieties of medicines including antibiotics, analgesics, antiulcer drugs, anti-diabetic drugs, antihypertensive drugs etc. are found stocked for sale at the premises.  DCA officials seized the stock of total worth Rs. 30,000 during the raid. N. Sahaja, Drugs Inspector, Kukatpally,  E. Naresh Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Balanagar and Dr. R. Geethanjali, Drugs Inspector, Prashanthnagar carried out the raid under the supervision of  G. Sreenivas, Assistant Director, Medchal and  T. Rajamouli, Assistant Director, Hyderabad.
