
Seizure of drugs falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’ in Mancherial
HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 21, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, busted the unlicensed manufacturing of drugs at Prosafe Biologicals LLP, in Mallepalle Village, Kondapur Mandal, Sangareddy District and seized stocks worth Rs. 54.75 lakhs.

DCA Director General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that acting on credible information, the officials conducted a raid at Prosafe Biologicals LLP, on Thursday and detected unlicensed manufacturing of drugs. The officers detected the unlicensed manufacturing of certain liquid orals, including Bacillus clausii Oral Suspension (2 billion spores/5 ml) manufactured and sold under the brand name Gutwell. They also seized Bacillus clausii Oral Suspension (2 billion spores/5 ml), claimed to contain polyantibiotic-resistant spores, intended for the export market. DCA officials seized stocks worth Rs. 54.75 lakhs during the raid and lifted samples for analysis. P. Ramu, Assistant Director, Patancheru, N. Ravikiran Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Sangareddy and T. Praveen Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Bollaram were among the officers who carried out the raid.

The DCA officials during the raids carried out in Mancherial officials detected d the product Prokalk-Z Drops (Zinc Gluconate Oral Drops) circulating in the market is falsely manufactured and sold under the guise of ‘food products/nutraceuticals’. The said product was falsely manufactured under a ‘food license (FSSAI license)’ (FSSAI. Lic. No. 13321008000258) and falsely claimed to be a food product/nutraceutical. According to the label composition of the product, it is classified as a drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. T. Chandana, Drugs Inspector, Mancherial carried out the raid under the supervision of M. Sreenivasulu, Assistant Director, Karimnagar.
The DCA DG said the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
