16-year-old girl commits suicide in TS Social welfare residential school

KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 30, 2024: A 16-year-old girl student has allegedly committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School\College for Girls in Chintakunta on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Monday night.

Janapa Akshitha, an intermediate first year student pursuing CEC group, was found hanging to the ceiling when her roommates went outside. When the roommates returned, they found her hanging to the ceiling and alerted the authorities, who shifted her to the Government Civil hospital in Karimnagar town, where she was declared brought dead.

The girl had purportedly had written a suicide note stating that she was committing suicide as she was unable to secure more marks. She stated ‘sorry to her parents and her friends’ for leaving this world by committing suicide. However, the girl’s parents alleged that their daughter took the extreme step due to negligence of the school authorities. The girl hailed from Medipalli village of Mallial mandal in Jagtial district. The police have registered a case and investigating.
