Vemulawada Municipal chairperson and BJP leaders stage dharna alleging violation of protocol during inauguration of ‘Break darshan’ facilities

Temple EO expresses apologies for not inviting them to the inauguration of the ‘Break darshan’ facility

BJP district president alleges that the temple authorities were commercializing the darshan by collecting fees for every rituals

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, AUGUST 05, 2024: Vemulawada Municipal Chairperson Ramatheerthapu Madhavi and BJP district president Prathapa Ramakrishna and other municipal councilors and BJP rank and file staged a dharna in front of the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada on Monday.

They were protesting against the Vemulawada devasthanam authorities for not inviting the Municipal council including its chairperson to the inauguration of the first of its kind ‘Break darshan’ facilities at Vemulawada temple shrine on Monday. It may be recalled that Government Whip and Vemulawada legislator Adi Srinivas along with his supporters inaugurated the ‘Break darshan’ facilities at the temple.

Irked over the neglect of the Municipal council when the Vemulawada temple shrine was part of the municipality, chairman Madhavi along with others staged a dharna denouncing the devasthanam authorities for neglecting the first citizen of the Vemulawada Municipality. She found fault with the Devasthanam authorities for not informing about any developmental works in the town.

BJP district president Prathapa Ramakrishna alleged that the Vemulawada temple shrine was being converted into a ‘business centre’ by the ruling party leaders. He charged that the Devasthanam authorities were commercializing the rituals at the shrine to earn money at the cost of the devotees. He found fault with the authorities for introducing tickets for all puja rituals at the shrine.

When the agitation was intensified, the temple Executive Officer Vinod Kumar visited the agitation camp pacified the protestors and expressed his apologies.  Later, the agitationists called off their protest dharna. BJP general secretary Mallikarjun, councilors N Vijay, Maram Kumar, S Ramachander, G Mahesh, BRS leaders Kranthi Kumat, V Srikanth Goud, R Raju, K Kanakaiah, N Shekhar, K Srinivas, Harish, V Srinivas, P Srinvias, Amjad Pasha, Prem Chary and others were also present.
