HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 18, 2024: “Oscar Challagariga”, a documentary film made by Chilkuri Sushil Rao has been selected for the Indo-Dubai International Film Festival. The selection of the film was announced on February 17. The festival will take place on February 24.
The festival has received submissions from across the world including the US, Switzerland, Ireland, UAE, China, Bulgaria, China, India, Hungary, Qatar, Morocco, Peru, France, Germany,
Chilkuri Sushil Rao, the documentary filmmaker from Hyderabad has won national and international recognition for his “Oscar Challagariga”. It has also been selected from various film festivals across the world.
The documentary showcases a celebration in a tiny village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in Telangana, India. The entire village comes together to celebrate an event that has brought glory to India. Lyricist Kanukuntla Subhash Chandrabose who hails from this village won the Oscar award along with music director M M Keeravani in the Academy Awards presented in Los Angeles in March 2023. They won the honours for the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the film ‘RRR” directed by S S Rajamouli.
The song was adjudged Best Original Song at the Oscars making it the first completely Indian production to win an Oscar award.
The documentary captures the celebratory mood in Challagariga village when Chandrabose visited his village in April 2023 and showed them all the international awards that the song won.
