NABARD launches training for SHG women in fashion designing and millet food products making

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 23, 2024: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) in association with Jana Vikas Rural development organisation has launched a training programme programme for the women Self-help groups of Mid Manair Dam (MMD) project land oustees for their economic empowerment in Vemulawada temple town on Friday.

Government Whip and Vemulawada legislator Adi Srinivas had formally inaugurated the training camp. A total of 240 women SHG members from Anupuram, Chinthal Thana, Rudraram, Kodumunja and Nilojupalli villages presently residing in R&R colonies were participating in the training programme. Among the 240 womenfolk, 180 members would be trained in advanced fashion designing and another 60 others would be training making millet-based food products such as Raagi laddu, millet upma, java millet baath, millet malth and biscuits etc.

The womenfolk were also taken on a field visit to Indian Institute of Millet Research centre in Hyderabad for providing necessary to produce millet based products, which have high demand in the market because of its nutritional values.

Speaking on the occasion, Government Whip Adi Srinivas appreciated the NABARD for taking up such training programmes to make the SHG women become into entrepreneurs. He called upon the womenfolk to utilise the opportunity and upgrade their skills and turn into entrepreneurs by setting up their own units in the villages and added that the NABARD would provide the necessary financial support through banks and also market their products.

Zilla Parishad chairperson Aruna, NABARD AGM P Manohar Reddy, DRDO Seshadri, Jana Vikasa Rural Development Organization Secretary Pendli Sampath Kumar and their representatives including Trainer Manisha Gande and others were also present.
