Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas passes away due to illness

MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 26, 2024: Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas has passed away on Monday following a prolonged illness. Born on May 17, 1951 in Gujarat state, he played a crucial role in the promotion of ghazals in the country along with Jagjit Singh and Talat Aziz.

Padmasri awardee Pankaj Udhas was known for his ghazals like ‘Chitti ayi hai” from Hindi film ‘Naam’ in 1986, ‘Chand jaise rang hai’ and others. He was widely acclaimed for his ghazals and soulful renditions. He had one of the prominent ghazal singer in the country.
