HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched    “Katamaiah Rakshaka Kavacham (Safety Equipment) scheme for the toddy-tappers at Tativanam in Lakshkarguda village of Abdullapurmet mandal in Rangareddy district on Sunday.

The safety equipment for the toddy-tappers was designed by the IIT Hyderabad and distributed through BC corporation. He planted a palm sapling on the occasion and interacted with the toddy-tappers.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the government is committed to extend assistance to people who relied on traditional occupations and trades. He said that the government had introduced fee reimbursement and Arogyasri for the benefit of weaker sections to provide higher education and corporate medical assistance.

Expressing concern over declining palm trees due to real estate boom, he informed Excise Minister Jupally Krishna to take up plantation of palm trees during Vanamotsavam. He suggested Minister for IT D Sridhar Babu to take measures for the plantation of palm trees on the banks of water bodies, roads, ponds and canals.

He said that the metro rail network would be extended to Hayathnagar very soon and added that they would take up a magnificent city at Maheshwaram to compete with New York City and the Rachakonda area, which is like Ooty would be developed as hub for the film making. Assembly speaker G Prasad, Ministers D Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Jupalli Krishna Rao and others were also present.
