Distributes hot milk and biscuits to school children and morning walkers in Karimnagar town
KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 26, 2024: To mark the birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution, and celebrate National Milk Day, the Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited aka Karimnagar Dairy on Tuesday distributed milk and biscuits to the morning walkers at Satavahana University and Government Blind School in Karimnagar town.
On this occasion, the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) Telangana chapter and Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwar Rao and other IDA leaders paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr Kurien to commemorate his 103rd birth anniversary on the premises of Karimnagar Dairy. He launched the celebrations by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rajeshwar Rao said that milk consumption is deeply embedded in Indian culture and culinary traditions. Following the direction shown by Dr Kurien, the Karimnagar Dairy has been working towards empowering India by empowering its dairy farmers. “We have been contributing towards enhancing milk availability for all and will continue to put in efforts to increase the production of milk,” he further added.
Dr Kurien was an Indian social entrepreneur known as the ‘Father of the White Revolution’ for launching Operation Flood — the world’s largest agricultural development programme. Known as the ‘milkman of India’, Dr Kurien was the founder-Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) from 1965 to 1998, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) from 1973 to 2006 and the Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) from 1979 to 2006, which are owned and managed by farmers and run by professionals.
As part of 103rd birth anniversary, the IDA Telangana chapter has presented cash reward of Rs 10,000 to best women milk producer Pudari Gangavva from Sangampalli village of Jagtial district. IDA vice chairman Samba Murthy, Secretary-General Balkrishna Reddy, treasurer Laxma Reddy, EC member Krishna Reddy, Karimnagar Dairy MD P Shankar Reddy, BAIF state official Hemanth, Karimnagar Dairy board directors M Prabhakar Rao and K Surya Rao and others were also present.
