
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, OCTOBER 09, 2026: The pre-Bathukamma celebrations were held grandly at Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet, under the chairpersonship of the College Principal, Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi, and under the guidance of V. Vani, Women Empowerment Cell Coordinator, and P. Dharmapuri, National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officer.
Flowers of various varieties were collected and beautifully arranged to create an attractive Bathukamma. The Principal formally inaugurated the celebrations by breaking a coconut, followed by traditional songs and dances.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal stated that Bathukamma is one of the most spectacular floral festivals in the world and a unique celebration that reflects Telangana’s rich culture, customs, traditions, social practices, and the close relationship between nature and people. She explained that Bathukamma is a cherished festival of Telangana women, who arrange flowers in beautiful layers, worship Bathukamma, and immerse it in water as part of the traditional celebrations. She further observed that after the formation of Telangana as a separate state, the significance and popularity of the Bathukamma festival had spread across the world.
