Mala community leaders were demanding abolition of GO Ms No. 99 and an increase in reservations from 5 per cent to 7 per cent
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30, 2026: The Integrated Karimnagar district has launched widespread preventive detention of Scheduled Caste Mala community leaders in various parts of the district ahead of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to Karimnagar and Sircilla towns on Wednesday.
The Mala Community leaders were demanding the immediate cancellation or abolition of GO Ms No 99 alongside revisions to the SC reservation roster system. They were demanding two roster points below 20 and an increase in Mala reservations to 7 per cent from the existing 5 per cent after categorisation.
The Mala Mahanadu leaders argue that the sub-categorisation fractures Dalit unity and dilutes their representation. They contend that the revised roster points disproportionately impact their share in public employment and education.
Arrested Mala community leaders include; Jai Mala Mahanadu state president Nallala Kanakaraju, national Mala Mahanadu state general secretary Medi Anjaiah, Jai Mala Mahanadu organising president Gantala Renuka, Jai Mala Mahanadu women’s wing state president Teetla Eshwari, Jai Mala Mahandu district president Maddela Rajender, Satavahana University student leader Karige Mahesh and others.
Condemning the illegal arrests, the Mala Community leaders demanded that the Chief Minister should convene the cabinet meeting and abolish the controversial GO number 99 and increase reservations from the existing 5 per cent to 7 per cent.
