KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29, 2026: The Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) has opposed the issuance of orders for setting up Telangana Public Schools (TPS) and demanded the withdrawal of order Rc No. 120/PS/2026 by the School Education Department.
In a statement here on Tuesday, TRSMA honourary president Y Shekhar Rao strongly condemned the setting up of 93 Telangana Public Schools across the state on the pretext of providing a better learning environment and to attract students from ‘smaller government and private schools to eliminate multi-grade teaching and provide best quality education.’
Stating that the government was targeting the private schools and diluting the cause of the Right To Education (RTE) Act, he demanded that the government withdraw its proposal to open Telangana Public Schools and close down smaller government schools. Instead of closing the government schools, the government should provide all basic amenities and fill vacant teacher posts, he stated.
There is no need to set up 93 new Telangana Public Schools across the state, he said and suggested that the government can provide quality education by strengthening more than 26,000 existing schools in the state.
Reiterating that the private schools were providing quality education in the entire state and providing employment to several lakhs of teaching and non-teaching persons, he threatened to launch state-wide agitations if the government do not withdraw the controversial order for setting up Telangana Public Schools.
