KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026: A One-Day Workshop on “Cyber Safety in the Digital Age” was organised by the Department of Social Sciences, Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Karimnagar, in collaboration with Satavahana University Law College, Karimnagar, under the 100 Days Academic Empowerment Programme of Satavahana University, at the College Auditorium, on Thursday.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. U. Umesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Satavahana University, as the Chief Guest. Prof. D. Vara Lakshmi, Principal, presided over the programme. Afsari Osmani, Vice-Principal and Head, Department of Economics and Programme Convenor, and B. Anil Singh, Faculty of Law, Satavahana University and Programme Coordinator, along with the faculty members of the Department of Social Sciences and a large number of students, were present. The programme commenced with ceremonial lamp lighting.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. U. Umesh Kumar appreciated the 100 Days Academic Empowerment Programme and stressed the importance of cyber safety and responsible use of digital technology. Prof. D. Vara Lakshmi highlighted the need for greater cyber awareness and digital responsibility among students.
The technical sessions were conducted by Resource Persons Ms. Fabha Afreen and Mr. Priya Raghavendra, Faculty of Law, Satavahana University. Ms. Fabha Afreen sensitised students on cyber safety, online security, protection of personal information, cybercrimes and legal remedies. Mr. Priya Raghavendra focused on Cyber Crime and Women’s Security, explaining cyber threats, preventive measures, digital privacy and legal assistance.
The valedictory session was graced by Prof. P. Satish Kumar, Registrar, Satavahana University, as the Chief Guest, with K. Padmavathi, Principal, University College of Law, Satavahana University, as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Satish Kumar appreciated the organisers and emphasised the importance of cyber safety, legal awareness and responsible digital citizenship. K. Padmavathi highlighted the need for awareness of legal remedies against cyber offences.
The workshop was informative and interactive, equipping students with practical knowledge on cyber security, prevention of cybercrimes, women’s online safety and legal remedies. The programme successfully fulfilled its objective of empowering students to become aware, responsible and digitally safe citizens.
