RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 09, 2026: Telangana Language Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, located at Shatrajupalli, Vemulawada, to commemorate the birth anniversary of the people’s poet and Telangana icon Kaloji Narayana Rao on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the college management paid floral tributes to the legendary poet, who proudly used the unique Telangana dialect in his powerful writings, elevating it to literary recognition.
The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Telugu and NSS, with the aim of creating awareness and fostering interest among students in the Telangana language, literature, and cultural heritage.
As part of the Telangana Language Day celebrations, various competitions including essay writing, elocution, and singing were conducted for the students. Students participated enthusiastically and showcased their talent. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, College Principal P.S.R. Sharma stated that the Telangana language has its own unique sweetness and diversity and is deeply connected with the lifestyle and traditions of the people. He emphasised that students have an important role in preserving and carrying forward the richness of the Telangana language and literature to future generations.
Vice Principal K. Lavanya advised students to develop a deeper understanding of Telangana language, literature, and culture and to preserve the uniqueness and richness of the regional dialect.
The programme was attended by Head of the Department of Telugu S. Sandhya Rani, Telugu Lecturer and NSS Programme Officer V. Swapna, Academic Coordinator B. Sumalatha, Staff Secretary G. Rajini, NSS Council Members R. Deepthi and G. Swapna, along with other faculty members, staff, and students.
The competitions and cultural activities organised as part of Telangana Language Day celebrations helped enhance students’ love for the language, creativity, and appreciation of Telangana’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage.
