KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 09, 2026: The Karimnagar Milk Producer Company limited albeit Karimnagar Dairy, has paid rich tributes to Milkman of India Dr Verghese Kurien on his 14th death anniversary by garlanding his statue on the premises of Karimnagar Dairy in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
Dairy Chairman Ch Rajeshwara Rao paid floral tributes to the statue of Kurien, the architect of India’s white revolution and recollected his vision of organising milk producers into farmer-owned cooperatives. Through Operation Flood, launched in 1970 by Kurien, the cooperative model pioneered in Anand was expanded across the country. The programme helped transform India from a milk-deficient nation into the world’s leading milk producer, while strengthening farmers’ incomes and giving producers greater control over the value chain.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rajeshwara Rao said that they were following the path shown by Mr Kurien and transformed the Karimnagar Dairy into the number one dairy in the Telangana state in terms of sales and procurement of milk. Stating that they were procuring 2 lakh litres per day, he said that they were selling 2 lakh litres of milk per day and other dairy products such as curd, sweets, paneer etc.
He said that they had set a target of procuring 5 lakh litres of milk per day and similarly sales also. Managing director P Shankar Reddy, Marketing manager T Rajashekhar Reddy and others were also present.
