HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 04, 2026: TG-SAFE – Drugs Wing, along with the EAGLE Force, conducted a joint raid on a medical shop at Gajularamaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, for the illegal diversion of the habit-forming drug Tapentadol tablets and seized the stocks and relevant records.
In an official release here on Friday, TG SAFE Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said that based on credible information received that Mr. Bhaskar of Mana Pharmacy and General Store,  Mahadevapuram, Phase-III, Gajularamaram (V), Qutbullapur (M), Medchal-Malkajgiri District, was allegedly selling the habit-forming drug Tapentadol tablets to teenagers in the surrounding basti area, a joint raid was conducted by the officials of TG-SAFE – Drugs Wing in coordination with the EAGLE Force.
During the raid, the officials detected indiscriminate sale of the habit-forming drug Tapentadol. It was found that Tapentadol tablets were being sold without a prescription from a Registered Medical Practitioner, without issuance of sale bills, and the sales were not being recorded in the Schedule H1 Drug Register, thereby contravening the provisions of the Drugs Rules, 1945.
Tapentadol is an opioid analgesic and a prescription medicine used for the management of moderate to severe pain. It is a habit-forming drug and is classified as a Schedule H1 drug. It shall be sold only against a valid prescription issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner. Illegal diversion and misuse of such medicines can lead to dependence and serious health consequences.
During the course of the raid, the officials seized stocks of Tentadol-100 (Tapentadol Tablets 100 mg), along with the relevant purchase invoices, sale bill books and registers. The raid was conducted by the TG-SAFE – Drugs Wing officials, Dr. K. Prabhakar, Assistant Director, Quthbullapur;  I. Srikanth, Drugs Inspector, Gajularamaram; and K. Murali Krishna, Drugs Inspector, Malkajgiri, under the supervision of G. Sreenivas, Deputy Director-I, Drugs Administration Wing, TG-SAFE, along with the staff of the EAGLE Force.
