KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 17, 2026: A one-day field trip was organised under the auspices of the Department of Botany at SRR (Sri Raja Rajeshwara) Government Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Karimnagar, on Monday. During this trip, students directly recorded the biodiversity of various plant species, microorganisms, and animals present at the Elgandal Fort in Karimnagar.
Following the instructions of the Head of the Botany Department and Controller of Examinations, Prof. Thirukovela Srinivas, and under the guidance of Assistant Professor of Botany, Padala Tirupathi, third-year and other degree students explored the local Elgandal Fort area. They observed and recorded plants belonging to various families and appreciated the rich biodiversity. Furthermore, they learned about the significance, types, and necessity of biodiversity, as well as the underlying causes of biodiversity loss.
Prof. Thirukovela Srinivas emphasised that botany students play an invaluable role in biodiversity conservation. He urged them to continuously observe, document, and protect the plants in their own neighbourhoods and surrounding areas.

The field trip saw participation from Assistant Professors of Botany Routhu Radhakrishna, Mohammed Tahir Hussain, Â Kandukuri Kalajyothi, Tirupathi, Asampalli Swaroopa Rani, Mohammed Tajuddin, along with other faculty members, students, and NSS volunteers.
College Principal Prof Ramakrishna advised the students on the benefits and the absolute necessity of field trips. He suggested that, as part of their curriculum, botany students must mandatorily undertake field trips every year to document and conserve nature, crops, forests, and diverse plant species.
Finally, Prof. Thirukovela Srinivas (HoD, Botany) and Prof. Kalvakunta Ramakrishna (College Principal) congratulated Assistant Professor  Padala Tirupathi, who organised the field trip, along with Kiran and the rest of the faculty members.
