RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, AUGUST 06, 2026: Bonalu, one of the most revered and vibrant festivals of Telangana, is celebrated as an expression of gratitude and devotion to Goddess Mahankali for safeguarding people from diseases and ensuring peace, prosperity, and well-being. The festival is a symbol of Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, traditional values, and communal harmony.
In keeping with this glorious tradition, the Bonalu Festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm, religious fervour and reverence on Thursday at the Government Degree and PG College, Gambhiraopet, under the supervision of Mrs V. Vani, Coordinator of the Women Empowerment Cell, and under the chairmanship of the College Principal, Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal stated that the Bonalu festival reflects the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Telangana. She emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting the state’s unique customs and cultural values among the younger generation.
As part of the celebrations, students beautifully decorated the Bonalu pots and presented vibrant cultural performances, including traditional songs and dances, making the event lively and memorable.
The programme was attended by Vice Principal M. Prabhakar, IQAC Coordinator Y. Anjaneyulu, NSS Programme Officer P. Dharmapuri, TASK Coordinator J. Sravan Kumar, Library and Scholarship Coordinator Adivishnu, K. V. Bikshamaiah, Srinivas, Manohar, Sucharan, Mahesh, Krishna Prasad, Shankar, Deepika, Bhargavi, other teaching and non-teaching staff members, and a large number of students.
