MANCHERIAL, AUGUST 06, 2026:Â A new golden chapter has been written in the history of Singareni. The first railway rake loaded with coal from SCCL’s Naini Coal Mine in Odisha completed its 1,131-kilometre journey and reached the Singareni Thermal Power Plant (STPP) at Jaipur in Mancherial district on Thursday morning.
This marks the first-ever transportation of coal from an SCCL-owned mine located in another State to Telangana, creating a festive atmosphere at STPP and becoming a historic milestone in the company’s journey.
Deputy Chief Minister Congratulates SCCL
On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Shri Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, who is currently on an official visit abroad, conveyed his greetings to the SCCL management, officers and employees through a video message.
He said that meeting Telangana’s power requirements remains the Government’s highest priority and noted that SCCL continues to play a vital role in the State’s development by supplying both coal and electricity. He described the transportation of coal from SCCL’s Naini Mine in Odisha to Telangana as a historic achievement.
Shri Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy, along with the entire State Cabinet, is committed to strengthening and expanding SCCL. He said the People’s Government has extended complete support to the company’s growth and recently enabled SCCL to secure the Tadicherla-2 Block and the Manuguru Dip-side Block.
He further said that SCCL should expand beyond Telangana into other States and overseas, while also entering the sectors of Critical Minerals and Rare Earth Minerals. He expressed confidence that SCCL would be transformed into an internationally competitive mining company capable of standing alongside the world’s leading mining organizations.
4,000 Tonnes of Coal in 59 BOXN Wagons
 The inaugural coal rake, loaded at the Hindol Railway Siding near the Naini Mine, transported approximately 4,000 tonnes of premium G-10 grade coal in 59 BOXN wagons to Telangana.
The coal will be utilized to meet the State’s growing power generation requirements in accordance with the directions of the Telangana Government.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti, expressed special thanks to the Governments of Telangana and Odisha, Indian Railways, and all officers and employees who contributed to the successful transportation of the first coal rake from Odisha to Telangana.
Grand Welcome to the First Coal Rake
The first Naini coal rake received a ceremonial welcome at the Singareni Thermal Power Plant.
Director (Operations) Shri L. V. Suryanarayana and Director (E&M) Shri M. Tirumala Rao welcomed the rake and, after performing traditional rituals, inaugurated the coal unloading process at the coal yard.
Priority to Telangana’s Interests
Speaking on the occasion, Director (Operations) Shri L. V. Suryanarayana and Director (E&M) Shri M. Tirumala Rao  said that, in line with the State Government’s directions, SCCL has commenced coal transportation from the Naini Mine to meet Telangana’s power requirements.
They noted that while SCCL has long been supplying coal to other States, this is the first time that coal from an SCCL-owned mine located in another State has been transported to its home State, making it a rare and historic achievement.
They also acknowledged the special initiative taken by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Bhatti Vikramarka in securing the Tadicherla-2 and Manuguru Dip-side coal blocks and thanked the State Government for its continued efforts to secure additional coal blocks for SCCL.
Director (E&M) Shri M. Tirumala Rao stated that the Singareni Thermal Power Plant is playing a crucial role in meeting Telangana’s power demand as per the State Government’s directions.
He added that the construction of another 800 MW Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Unit is currently in progress and will further strengthen the State’s power generation capacity upon completion.
The programme was attended by STPP Executive Director Shri C. H. Chiranjeevi, STPP General Manager Shri M. Narasimha Rao, GM (E&M) Shri Suryanarayana Raju, Recognised Trade Union Deputy General Secretary Shri Veerabhadram, Representative Trade Union leader and Chairman of the Minimum Wages Implementation Committee Shri Janaprasad, Officers’ Association President Shri Lakshmipathi Goud, along with senior officers, employees and workers.
