JAGTIAL, AUGUST 06, 2026:Â The NSS and NCC Units of SKNR Government Arts & Science College, Jagitial, jointly organised a solemn tribute programme to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Telangana ideologue Prof. Kothapalli Jayashankar on Thursday. The programme paid rich floral tributes to the visionary whose lifelong commitment and intellectual leadership became the guiding force behind the Telangana statehood movement.
The programme was graced by Dr. Srinivas, Deputy District Medical & Health Officer (DYDM&HO), Jagitial, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he paid glowing tributes to Prof. Jayashankar and described him as the chief architect of Telangana ideology. He said that Prof. Jayashankar dedicated his entire life to the cause of Telangana and played a pivotal role in strengthening the movement through his scholarly research, inspiring speeches, and unwavering commitment. He noted that Prof. Jayashankar’s intellectual support and visionary leadership were instrumental during both the first and second phases of the Telangana statehood agitation, motivating generations to strive for justice and self-respect.
Vice Principal Prof. Adepu Srinivas delivered a detailed address on the life and achievements of Prof. Jayashankar. He highlighted that Prof. Jayashankar relentlessly advocated the rights of the people of Telangana and popularised the slogan “Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu” (Water, Funds, and Employment), which awakened public consciousness and inspired lakhs of people to unite for the achievement of a separate Telangana State. He said that Prof. Jayashankar’s ideals, dedication, and sacrifices would continue to inspire future generations.
On the occasion, the faculty, students, NSS volunteers, and NCC cadets offered floral tributes to the portrait of Prof. Jayashankar and observed his invaluable contribution to the formation of Telangana State.
Among those who participated in the programme were Lt. P. Raju, NCC Officer; G. V. R. Sai Madhukar; K. Surender, Librarian; A. Govardhan; K. Srinivas; teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and students of the college, who all paid their heartfelt homage to the legendary Telangana ideologue.
