Singareni Meets Coal Consumers, Transport Agencies
12,000 Tonnes Daily Coal Transport Target
Angul District Collector, District SP Assures Support for Coal Movement
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 05, 2026: Senior officials of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) held a special review meeting at the Naini Coal Mine in Odisha to ensure the daily transportation of coal produced from the mine to the nearby railway siding and to local consumers as per the prescribed targets.
The meeting was chaired by SCCL Director (Personnel & Finance) Sri Gowtham Potru and Executive Director (Coal Movement) Sri B. Venkanna. Representatives of major coal consumers, including Jindal Steel, Jindal India Power Limited, Meenakshi Energy Limited, and Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL), along with coal transportation agencies, participated in the meeting, on Wednesday.
Addressing the participants, Sri Gowtham Potru said the Naini Coal Mine is expected to produce 6 million tonnes of coal annually. The coal is to be supplied to nearby power plants, Singareni Thermal Power Plant in Telangana, and Tamil Nadu’s thermal power stations. He urged transport agencies to ensure that coal is delivered to consumers every day in line with the prescribed targets and requested consumers to extend their full cooperation.

Executive Director (Coal Movement) Sri B. Venkanna emphasised the need for transport agencies to fully support the movement of coal to the nearby Hindol Railway Siding and Kamakhya Nagar Siding to facilitate rail transportation.
Representatives of the consumer companies assured the management that they were prepared to lift coal according to their daily allocations and would coordinate closely with transport agencies to ensure smooth movement of coal.
Representatives of the transport agencies stated that they were fully prepared to transport coal as per the required targets. The meeting also discussed certain bottlenecks being faced along the transportation routes.
Subsequently, the senior Singareni officials met Angul District Collector Sri M. Abdul Akhtar, IAS and Angul District SP Sri.Rahul Jain, IPS sought the cooperation of the district administration in facilitating uninterrupted road transportation of coal. The Collector and District SP responded positively and assured the administration’s support.
SCCL is making arrangements to transport a minimum of 12,000 tonnes of coal per day from the Naini Mine. Senior officials instructed Naini Area officers to work in close coordination with coal consumers and transportation agencies to achieve the transportation targets. Earlier, Director (Personnel & Finance) Sri Gowtham Potru and Executive Director (Coal Movement) Sri B. Venkanna visited the Naini Coal Mine and reviewed the coal production process. The meeting was attended by Naini Area General Manager Sri D. Baidya and other senior officials of Singareni Collieries.
