KARIMNAGAR, JULY 17, 2026: A two-day Faculty Development Workshop on “Enhancing Teaching Excellence through ICT” was inaugurated at Government Degree College for Women (autonomous) in Karimnagar town on Friday.
The programme is being organized by the Department of Commerce in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, Satavahana University, under the Academic Empowerment Programme for Government Degree Colleges – A 100-Day Initiative.
Inaugurating the workshop, Prof. P. Satish Kumar, Registrar, Satavahana University, stressed the need for teachers to embrace Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the teaching-learning process. He observed that the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Google tools, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and digital content development would make classroom teaching more effective, interactive, and student-centric. He urged faculty members to continually upgrade their technological knowledge to meet the changing demands of higher education.
Addressing the gathering, N. V. Sriranga Prasad, Coordinator, Academic Empowerment Programme, said the 100-Day Academic Empowerment Programme provides an excellent platform for the professional development of Government Degree College teachers. He encouraged faculty to utilise the opportunities created by the Government and Satavahana University to strengthen their ICT competencies and enhance the quality of teaching, research, and evaluation.
Presiding over the inaugural session, Prof. D. Varalakshmi, Principal, Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Karimnagar, emphasised the importance of adopting innovative teaching practices supported by modern digital technologies to improve student learning outcomes.
Harikanth, Head, Department of Commerce, Satavahana University, and Workshop Director, explained that the two-day programme includes expert sessions on ICT-enabled teaching, Artificial Intelligence, online assessment tools, research tools, academic writing, plagiarism detection, and digital content creation, enabling faculty members to effectively integrate technology into classroom instruction.
Earlier, B. Rajani Devi, Workshop Convener, welcomed the dignitaries and participants and highlighted the objectives and significance of the workshop. The workshop is coordinated by Mrs. J. Swapna, K. Thirupathi, B. Naresh, and B. Parashuramulu as Co-Conveners.
Among those present were Srinivas Reddy, Controller of Examinations; Mr. Satish Kumar, Additional Controller of Examinations; Mr. Manoj Kumar and Ch. Vidya, Academic Coordinators, and faculty members of the Department of Commerce, including S. Sudhama, R. Satish, K. Anusha, T. Krishnaveni, and M. Srujana. Faculty members from various Government Degree Colleges across the district participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
