KARIMNAGAR, JULY 17, 2026: To commemorate the 94th birth anniversary of leading businessman and philanthropist Kesarimal Karwa, his family members organised a special Bhajanotsav at Sri Das Hanuman Goushala, Odyaram on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Sunday (July 19, 2026).
With the blessings of Sri Das Hanumanji Maharaj, Chitrakot and Param Pujya Guru Maharaj Shri 1008 Ghanshyamacharyaji Mahaji, the Bhajonotsav will be conducted by Sri Vijay Ji Soni. Mr Kesarimal Karwa’s sons, Bhagwandas Karwa and Venugopal Karwa, grandsons Arjun Karwa, Krishna Karwa, Kushal Karwa, Kunal Karwa, granddaughter Meenakshi and other family members would participate in the Bhajanotsav.
Kesarimal Karwa, whose legacy continues to inspire awe to this day. He was an epitome and true social worker and always strived for the welfare of society. He was first in providing monthly essentials to several orphanages, old age homes, and other financial assistance to the needy when they approached him for assistance. His life journey sets high standards for every human being.
Mr Kesarimal Karwa was not only a philanthropist, but also guided the budding businessmen and industrialists to excel in their chosen profession. He was an active crusader against corruption as an activist with the Lok Satta Udyama Samstha and strove to protect consumer rights through the Karimnagar Consumers Council (KCC).
He passed away in his sleep while he was holidaying along with his family members in Dubai on January 11, 2020, at the age of 88 years. Mr Kesarimal Karwa was renowned for his philanthropic activities and empowerment of budding industrialists and entrepreneurs in the district.
He encouraged the bright students by providing the necessary financial assistance for their higher education. He never says no to anyone who approaches him for any kind of assistance. He had constructed a dining hall for the students of Government High School, Sapthagiri colony in Karimnagar town to serve midday meals, which has now become a model for the state government to construct similar dining halls in all schools.
Incidentally, he had seen the three phases of the Telangana statehood movement right after the independence of the country and for the liberation of Telangana from the clutches of the Nizam rulers in 1947 to 1948. The second phase of the statehood movement in 1969 and the third phase of the movement with the advent of TRS in 2001 led to the formation of a separate Telangana state in 2014.
He was a close associate of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, former MP and Minister J Chokka Rao, former Assembly speaker Duddilla Sripada Rao and even the former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajashekhar Reddy. He maintains cordial relations with all the elected representatives and always advises them on the development of the district.
Mr. Karwa started his business as a gold merchant and later shifted to the cloth industry, cinema theatre and later into the granite industry. During his last seven decades as a businessman, he had emerged as role model for several businessmen of the town and an advisor to several budding business persons.
Incidentally, Mr Karwa was the person who bought the Union Bank of India (UBI) in the Karimnagar district in the year 1962, and the branch is still housed in his own building premises in Karimnagar town. He maintained close relations with several senior bank officials of UBI and also the RBI. He was associated with the Karimnagar Chamber of Commerce for several decades and strived for the development of the business and trade in the district.
