Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attends “The Hindu Huddle” session titled “By, For, and Of the People: Good Governance for Telangana”
BENGALURU, JUNE 06, 2026: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi resorted to political gimmicks on women’s reservations in the Legislative bodies. The Congress party was opposed to linking the women’s reservation to the increase of MP seats. If parliamentary seats are increased as proposed—raising Lok Sabha seats in Kerala from 20 to 30 and in Uttar Pradesh from 80 to 120. It would be unjust, and this is precisely what we oppose.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attends “The Hindu Huddle” session titled “By, For, and Of the People: Good Governance for Telangana in Bengaluru city on Saturday. Revanth Reddy delved into his political journey from ZPTC member to CM, women empowerment, job recruitment, political fight with opposition parties, Congress party’s stand on women reservation. Union government’s indifference towards Southern India, Rythu Bharosa, Telangana Rising etc.
On WOMEN RESERVATION AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST SOUTHERN STATES: The Congress was demanding the Centre not penalise the performing southern states, which contribute significantly more to the Centre than they receive. The President, Prime Minister, and Union Home Minister all hail from northern states. The 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections are approaching, and the Centre should prove its sincerity in the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the state first. The Chief Minister appealed to the Centre to stop widening the rift between the North and the South parts of the states.
We are the architects of women’s reservation policies. Congress governments appointed women Presidents, Lok Sabha Speaker, Governors, and Chief Ministers. Rajiv Gandhi ensured representation for women in local bodies. We passed the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha under Sonia Gandhi’s leadership.
VISIT TO CHINA SOON : Referring to the investments, the Chief Minister said that Gujarat was not naturally attracting investments, which are being forced into the state. For the past 20 years, there has been just one brand ambassador working there. Telangana state was not alone competing with neighbouring states and also with the world. Why compete with neighbours only? We are competing with China, Japan, South Korea, and Germany. My motto is ‘China+1’. I visited China 15 years ago and had no hesitation in learning from anyone. I will visit China soon to learn. I once took a ten-day course at Harvard; similarly, I will visit China to understand their best practices.
BLUE COLLAR JOBS AND RECRUITMENT IN GOVERNMENT : On the creation of jobs, CM Revanth Reddy said that blue-collar jobs are an alternative to white-collar jobs. AI has not created an alternative to blue-collar jobs. AI can create many things, but it cannot create a politician. Our youth need to focus on alternatives and enhance their skills. Those who had the opportunity to govern the state in the past viewed themselves merely as rulers; I, however, consider myself a public representative here to serve. There are 2 lakh vacant government jobs in Telangana, and his government started recruitment. We provided 67,760 jobs in just 15 months—the highest number of jobs provided anywhere in the country. We issued notifications two weeks ago, and a notification for the recruitment of 5,000 police personnel will be issued soon. Our youth are now preparing for these jobs. The recruitment agency Telangana Public Service Commission, was also revamped. During KCR rule, an RMP doctor served as a member of the commission and interviewed Group-1 candidates. Is an RMP doctor the right person to oversee appointments for engineers, doctors, and other professional roles?. the CM averred.

TELANGANA RISING 2047 : Elaborating the comprehensive plan for Telangana development to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, the CM said that the state has been divided into 3 zones. The urban area within the 160-km Outer Ring Road (ORR) as CURE (Core Urban Region Economy), the area between the ORR and the Regional Ring Road (RRR) is called PURE (Peri-Urban Region Economy) and beyond the RRR as RARE (Rural Agricultural Region Economy). We held a global summit on December 7, 8, and 9 last year and released a policy document. We are prioritizing the service sector in CURE, manufacturing in PURE, and agriculture in RARE. We intend to transform CURE into a ‘Net Zero’ city and are implementing plans aligned with this policy. Even though we are incurring an annual loss of ₹2,000 crore, we decided to mandate the use of electric vehicles (EVs) within the CURE zone and waived taxes on EVs. We are undertaking Metro expansion and restoring lakes by removing encroachments. Constructing water harvesting wells and promoting the manufacturing sector within the region and also building ‘Bharat Future City’ across 30,000 acres and inviting Fortune 500 companies to invest here. Since the Telangana state is a landlocked state, the CM said that he was consulting with Prime Minister Modi and the Chief Minister of the neighboring state, Chandrababu Naidu, to connect the Machilipatnam port via a 12-lane highway. We are striving to establish seamless connectivity through road, rail, port, and airport networks, as these will drive our growth. We are home to institutions like ISB, IIIT, and NALSAR University; we have focused on educational institutions and recognized the importance of human resources. We are all discussing AI these days; AI is causing the loss of white-collar jobs. That is why we established the Young India Skills University—a public-private partnership. Anand Mahindra serves as the Chairman, and Srini Raju as the Vice-Chairman. We have transformed our ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) at a cost of ₹2,400 crore. The Tata company is contributing 86 percent and creating blue-collar jobs. I have frequently visited Germany, Japan, and South Korea to study how blue-collar jobs are taking the place of white-collar jobs. Those in blue-collar roles earn more than IT engineers. We are providing training in German, Japanese, and Korean languages to enable people to work in those countries.
CENTRE’s INDIFFERENCE TOWARDS TELANGANA : The Chief minister criticized the union government for not extending financial assistance and also discriminated against Telangana in approving investments. In the past, short-term loans were secured at interest rates of 11 per cent to 11.50 per cent. We are currently restructuring them with interest rates of 7 to 8 percent and converting them into long-term loans. We are in the process of restructuring debts worth ₹2 lakh crore. Neither the Centre nor the states are focusing on the flaws within the GST system. We have appointed Arvind Subramanian as a GST advisor. Over the past 7–8 years, monthly GST revenue never exceeded ₹3,500 crore, but for the last six months, it has crossed the ₹4,000 crore mark. We have generated an additional ₹5,000 crore in just six months. This was achieved by curbing corruption and plugging revenue leakages, without raising taxes. We will fight against the Central Government’s discrimination. Regarding investment approvals for our state, they are directing investors to go to Gujarat instead and this is the situation we are facing.
FARMERS – LOAN WAIVER : CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the measures taken for rescuing the distressed farmers for the last two years. In the past, Telangana recorded the highest number of farmer suicides after Maharashtra, primarily due to debt. The Congress government waived loans amounting to ₹20,616 crore for 25,035 farming families which is the largest loan waiver in the country. An NCRB report—a report by the Central Government—stated that Telangana was a state with zero farmer suicides in the 2024-25 year. Farmers are happy. Previously, farmers had to struggle for the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Now, we ensured the MSP and also provided a bonus of ₹500 per quintal to paddy farmers. The Centre is neglecting crop procurement. They simply announce the MRP and wash their hands of the matter. We are procuring Paddy and Maize, alongside others. Under the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme, we provide ₹12,000 per acre, which farmers utilize for fertilizers and cultivation expenses.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT : The Chief minister said that economic assistance is being provided to 6.7 million women in self-help groups across Telangana. They have availed loans worth ₹60,000 crore at zero interest, with the government bearing the interest costs. Women’s groups have purchased 1,000 buses and also ventured into the renewable energy sector. The government has also allocated petrol bunks and solar plants to them. Members of these women’s groups operate canteens at various government institutions, and we have entrusted them with the task of creating facilities in government schools.
REFORMS IN EDUCATION : A slew of measures were taken to strengthen the education in the public sector, the CM said that we are introducing pre-schools. We have 27,000 government schools catering to 1.8 million (18 lakh) children, while there are 12,000 private schools with 3.5 million (35 lakh) children. Government teachers are highly qualified and many hold MA and PhD degrees. Yet, the children were not enrolling because of lack of pre-school facilities. We are also providing transport along with breakfast and mid-day meals to the students and sending the teachers to Singapore and other countries for study tours.
BUREAUCRACY : CM Revanth Reddy asserted that “ common sense is a crucial element of administration. If a problem is understood through common sense, half the problem is solved and the rest is resolved through appropriate decision-making. If he makes an opinion first, they tend to align their responses with it trying to please me. I spent 17 years in the opposition, from 2006 to 2023. During that time, I learned a great deal and fought for public causes. It was the reason no one can mislead me.
HYDRAA- LAKES PROTECTION : The government ‘s initiative to protect the lakes and water bodies from the encroachments was discussed in the conversation. The Chief minister said that the government has established HYDRAA to remove all encroachments. A senior IPS officer was appointed as the head of the HYDRAA. Further, the CM said that there are six major metropolitan cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. Each of these cities should follow its own model to solve the encroachments, as well as strategies for environmental issues, water scarcity, and flash floods.
DRUG MENACE: Aiming to promote Telangana as a drug free state , CM Revanth Reddy said that the ‘Eagle Force’ was set up to combat the drug menace, as students are falling victim to drugs. Our Eagle Force is the best in the country and our goal is to eradicate the drug problem completely.
CASTE CENSUS : The BC, SC, ST and minorities welfare was given top priority in the government , the chief minister said that the main objective was to eliminate differences based on caste in education. The previous governments established separate residential schools for SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities. To truly eliminate casteism and foster unity without social barriers, we are now establishing ‘Young India Integrated Schools’ . Following the Supreme Court’s verdict, we also implemented the categorization of SCs in our state. Even Gujarat has not implemented the Supreme Court’s ruling . A caste census has not been conducted in the country since 1931. We conducted a caste census in our state; how can you extend welfare schemes to Backward Classes (BCs) without a caste census?
To a question, the CM clarified that he does not resort to abuse and speaks sarcastically. He never argued with journalists and threatened any one for writing against him. He viewed the media as a source of ‘back-office’ information. He also regularly holds press conferences every ten days and answers every question asked. The CM emphasized that true understanding comes only from connecting with the people. Connecting with the public is the real strength in public life.
POLITICAL JOURNEY :CM Revanth Reddy narrated how he grew in politics as a leader of the student wing (Vidyarthi Parishad), ventured into business and later elected as an independent ZPTC member and MLC in 2007. Subsequently, he joined the TDP and worked under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu for ten years. He was elected as an MLA twice. Due to the state bifurcation and local factors, he resigned from the TDP. At that time, he had several options before him but decided to join the Congress party because it was the Congress that granted statehood to Telangana. Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the 60-year-old dream of the people of Telangana. When he joined the party, he apprised Rahul Gandhi of every detail regarding my political journey. He became the PCC President and the Chief Minister. By July 2026, he will have completed 20 years in public life. Throughout his political career, he has fought for the people and the common man. He came from an agricultural family and his father was a Police Patel. Without any political background or backing, ours is a family defined by a strong work ethic. He reached this position thanks to the blessings of the people of Telangana.
