TGCGTA Karimnagar District Unit Expresses Gratitude to the Government
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 03, 2026: In a historic solution of a long-pending issue affecting faculty members of the government degree colleges, the Telangana State Government has issued G.O.Rt. No. 21, issued by the Higher Education (CE-I) Department dated June 3, 2026, ordering that 50% of the service rendered as a Junior Lecturer shall be considered for the implementation of the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS).
The orders further permit the extension of this benefit under the UGC Pay Scales of 2006 and 2016. As a result, faculty members working in Government Degree Colleges will now be eligible for career advancement opportunities and the corresponding financial benefits. Representatives of the Telangana Government College Gazetted Teachers Association (TGCGTA), Karimnagar District, stated that the Association played a crucial role in securing these landmark orders.
They emphasized that the leadership, perseverance, tireless efforts, and vision of K. Surender Reddy, Chairman of the College Education JAC and State General Secretary of TGCGTA, were instrumental in achieving this success. For the past eight years, Surender Reddy continuously pursued the matter through discussions with senior government officials, public representatives, officials of the Collegiate Education Department, and the Finance Department. By repeatedly submitting proposals, highlighting technical and legal aspects, and presenting strong arguments on behalf of faculty members, he successfully guided the issue to its final approval by the Government. The Association noted that Surender Reddy worked relentlessly for faculty welfare, often sacrificing personal comfort and overcoming numerous challenges, criticisms, and obstacles. His efforts have earned widespread appreciation and congratulations from faculty members across the State. According to the Association, these orders open new avenues for professional growth, financial advancement, and enhanced academic recognition for Government Degree College faculty. The resolution of an issue that remained pending for decades marks a significant milestone in the history of the teachers’ movement in Telangana.

The Association also acknowledged the valuable contributions of TGCGTA State President N. Gopi, Vice President J. Chinna, Treasurer N. Ramesh Goud, Women’s Secretary E. Pavani, and other members of the State Executive Committee in achieving this outcome. On this occasion, TGCGTA Karimnagar District representatives, including Satavahana University Coordinator Prof. Kothireddy Mallareddy, District President Prof. A. Srinivas, and District Secretary G. Srinivas, along with Association members, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to this historic achievement.
