
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 03, 2026: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter has strongly condemned the brutal attack on IMA Rajasthan state president Dr Anand Gupta and other doctors at JP Orthopaedics Hospital, Udaipur.
It may be recalled that an angry mob stormed JP Orthopaedics Hospital in Udaipur on the night of Tuesday, June 2nd, vandalizing property and alleging medical negligence following a cloth trader’s deteriorating health. When Dr. Anand Gupta arrived at the scene to mediate and calm the situation, he was violently attacked by the mob, dragged onto the road, and had his clothes torn.
In a statement here on Wednesday, IMA Karimnagar president Dr Akula Shailaja, secretary Dr Mahesh Babu and treasurer Dr Neelima V Kasam and others expressed their solidarity to the agitation doctors in Rajasthan state.The medical fraternity declared that violence against those entrusted to save lives is unacceptable and have threatened to go on a statewide strike if strict legal action is not taken against the culprits in the heinous act of attacking medical professions, they stated.
The Hospitals must remain safe zones where doctors can provide care without fear, intimidation, or violence, the IMA leaders stated and added that IMA Karimnagar supports the demand for stringent legal protection for healthcare professionals and urges authorities to take swift action to prevent such incidents from recurring.
