Ready to Design and Implement New Courses — Prof. Umesh Kumar
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 31, 2026: Chairman of the Telangana State Higher Education Council, Professor Balakista Reddy, stressed the need to develop new syllabi and course modules to facilitate quality education in the present era. He announced that new courses are being introduced for the upcoming academic year, specifically designed to enhance employment opportunities, strengthen the nexus between educational institutions and industries, and foster technical proficiency through internships.
Mr Kista Reddy was participating as chief guest at an awareness programme regarding the design of degree courses and revision of the new syllabus at the Ambedkar Library Auditorium of Satavahana University in Karimnagar town on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Reddy noted that there is a pressing need to design courses that enable students to acquire knowledge through direct, technology-based, experiential learning, thereby bringing about transformative changes in the education sector and, consequently, in society at large.
Furthermore, he stated that the Higher Education Council would provide the necessary study materials for these newly formulated courses, thereby facilitating easier instruction for faculty members and more effective learning for students. He highlighted that in today’s competitive global landscape, there is a growing demand for “super skills” and advanced competencies, ranging from highly specialised expertise to semi-skilled proficiency and underscored the necessity of designing new courses and skill-development programs to equip the youth with these capabilities. Concluding his address, he noted that with the aid of these new curricula, students could independently create employment opportunities for themselves in sectors such as shipping, aviation, and healthcare, etc. he urged college managements and faculty members to formulate strategic plans to drive this new wave of educational innovation.

Speaking as the distinguished guest, Satavahana University Vice Chancellor Prof U Umesh Kumar explained the critical need for degree students to focus on new curriculum, multidisciplinary courses, and programs that incorporate internships. He noted that such initiatives enable students to enhance not only their subject knowledge but also their employment prospects. He stated that universities in Telangana serve as guiding beacons for students, parents, and colleges, and that the Higher Education Council is dedicated to formulating appropriate plans to facilitate this role. He urged colleges to take the initiative in introducing new courses and curricula for their students; by doing so, he remarked, they would not only improve employment opportunities but also pave the way for the creation of a developed society.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Harikanth, OSD to the VC, observed that numerous new job opportunities are emerging within the retail and commercial sectors. He stressed the imperative for students to study new courses and acquire new technological skills to meet the demands of these fields, and urged colleges to come forward in launching new courses that are aligned with the evolving needs of society.
Sarasija, the programme convener and Director of Academic Audit, highlighted the significant need to integrate technical or value-added courses into existing Science, Arts, and Commerce programs. She explained that such integration would provide students with additional benefits, enabling them to secure new employment opportunities with the aid of technology. To achieve this, she emphasised the necessity of updating and modernising traditional curriculum and courses.
During this event, the Chairman of the Education Council, Balakishta Reddy, held an extensive discussion session with college management and faculty members regarding the design of new academic courses. The program was attended by office bearers of the Karimnagar District Degree Colleges Faculty Association, principals and faculty members from various colleges, as well as faculty from Social, Tribal, BC, and Minority Welfare Residential institutions.
The programme was presided over by Registrar Prof Satish Kumar, who emphasised the need to initiate a new trend in degree education by designing innovative courses tailored for the upcoming generation and by organising workshops for faculty members.
Furthermore, Satavahana University’s Controller of Examinations Suresh Kumar, Dean of CDC Jafer, Principal, College of Science S. Ramakanth; Principal, College of Arts Padmavathi, and faculty members from various colleges engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding this awareness programme.
