
KARIMNAGAR, MAY 19, 2026: The Department of Botany, National Service Scheme (NSS), and Eco Club at the local Sri Rajarajeshwara Government Arts & Science College in Karimnagar town have grandly initiated the “Two Lakh Seed Balls Movement.” College faculty, students, and NSS volunteers responded with great enthusiasm to this noble initiative, which aims at environmental protection, ecological balance, and expanding green cover.
The movement is being organised as a highly prestigious initiative under the leadership of Professor Tirukkovela Srinivas (Head of the Department of Botany and Controller of Examinations), with Padala Tirupati serving as the Organising Secretary. Serving as Co-Organising Secretaries are Botany Assistant Professors Raghu Radhakrishna, Mohammed Taher Hussain, Kandukuri Kalajyothi, Bunga Tirupati, MD Tajuddin, and Asampalli Swaroopa Rani.
Wall Poster Launch and Guest Address
Kadaru Surender Reddy, General Secretary of the Government Degree College Association, attended as the chief guest and unveiled the “Seed Ball Movement” wall poster. Speaking on the occasion, he noted:
“It is highly commendable that the Department of Botany and the NSS Eco Club of SRR College plant and protect hundreds of saplings every year as part of environmental conservation. Their efforts to promote plantation in villages through special camps serve as an inspiration to society.”

College Principal Professor K. Ramakrishna stated that this is a unique, eco-friendly initiative in the history of the college, and it will stand out as a great movement that fosters a sense of responsibility toward nature among students.
Call for Action and Environmental Impact
Department of Botany Head, Professor Tirukkovela Srinivas explained that expanding forests, conserving biodiversity, and achieving ecological balance are possible through seed balls. He urged the Forest Department, youth associations, government organisations, NGOs, and environmental lovers to support this movement by contributing seeds.
