HYDERABAD, APRIL 27, 2026: The Akshayapatra – Fistful of Rice Donation Programme was formally inaugurated with great enthusiasm and community participation at Government Degree College, Rajendranagar in Hyderabad.
The programme was officially inaugurated by MLA T. Prakash Goud, who symbolically launched the initiative by donating rice, reflecting the spirit of sharing and social responsibility. In his address, he appreciated the noble initiative and commended the institution for promoting humanitarian values among students.
The MLA also appreciated the Principal, M. Himabindu, for her visionary leadership and for initiating such a meaningful programme aimed at supporting the needy through collective contributions.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests and local leaders, including Ex-Municipal Chairman Sushma Mahender Reddy, Sri Venkatesh Goud, Sri Ganesh Gupta, and Sri Sanjay Yadav, who actively participated in the programme and extended their support.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal M. Himabindu elaborated on the core motto and long-term vision of the Akshayapatra Programme.

She emphasised that the initiative is not limited to symbolic participation but is designed as a continuous and sustainable act of service. She announced that a Rice Collection Bin would be permanently placed in the Principal’s Chamber to facilitate regular contributions.
She further explained that throughout all 365 days of the year, students, faculty members, and any interested individuals can contribute rice based on their capacity and willingness, ranging from a simple fistful to 1 kg, 2 kg or 5kg more. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone, regardless of their means, can participate in this noble cause. Her vision is to nurture a culture of empathy, sharing, and social responsibility, where consistent small acts of kindness collectively create a significant impact.
As part of this initiative, all the students and faculty members actively participated by contributing rice. The rice collected through this programme will be periodically donated to orphanage homes, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community service and support for the underprivileged.
The programme highlighted the importance of collective effort and demonstrated how voluntary contributions can bring meaningful change in society. It also served as a platform to instil humanitarian values and civic responsibility among students.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from IQAC coordinator Satyanarayana and NSS coordinator S.D.Bhavani and all other faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students are making it a successful and impactful initiative. The programme concluded with a strong message of unity, generosity, and dedication towards social welfare.
