World Health Day: A Diabetic, Hypertension & Obesity detection camp was conducted by senior Physician Dr Raghu Raman
KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 07, 2026: Senior Physician and chairman of Daram Susheela Charitable Trust, Dr D Raghu Raman, said that social media may be entertaining, but it is not always a reliable source of health-related information.
“Such information must be backed by medical evidence. Blindly following social media health updates may lead to detrimental health outcomes. On many occasions, it is really difficult to distinguish between correct and incorrect information”, he mentioned.
On the occasion of World Health Day, Dr Raghu Raman organised a free Diabetic, hypertension and Obesity camp at his clinic in Boyawada in Karimnagar town on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the social media influencers are now shaping health decisions in ways that can lead to unsafe self-diagnosis, unnecessary tests, and heavy spending. He advised the public not to fall prey to health information circulating on social media and informed the public to seek medical assistance only from a practising medical doctor.

At the medical camp, a total of 110 people attended the medical camp. Out of which, 10 patients were detected with diabetes and eight patients with hypertension. World Health Day 2026 was organised with the theme: “Together for health. Stand with science.” The campaign marks the anniversary of WHO’s founding on 7 April 1948, launching a year-long public health campaign.
The people were handed over a leaflet giving them simple health tips regarding a healthy lifestyle and also precautions to be taken in this summer season to avoid heat exhaustion and sunstroke. The camp was attended by Telangana Gazetted Officers Association president Madipally Kali Charan and TNGOs district president Daram Srinivas Reddy as chief guests.
