MCK clarifies that they had taken up works (encroachment) on Collectorate premises following a request from the Collectorate AO and the then Collector
MCK should ensure that there are open urinals on the premises which was existed for decades
It is surprising to note that the cement chairs set up on the premises were removed as some officials felt that the people were not rising, and they were sitting on the chairs, during their visit
The officials should remember that they are only civil servants and should work to benefit the people, and not cause harm to the four-decade-old Collectorate
If the situation is so chaotic with parking woes now, imagine the situation with all the offices housed in rented buildings in private premises, which will be relocated into the Collectorate office after the completion of the new Collectorate building, with the growing vehicular population
KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 06, 2026: Utter chaos is prevailing on the premises of the Collectorate office in Karimnagar town following the shrinking of parking spaces, which were otherwise converted for the plantation of saplings, denying parking space to hordes of vehicles visiting the office complex.
The vehicles of several officers and visitors were forced to park haphazardly on the premises without any shade during this hot summer. Otherwise, there was ample parking space surrounded by large trees on the premises, but the MCK officials intruded into the premises, erected fencing around the parking shed, and undertook plantation, causing traffic woes on the Collectorate premises.
Thanks to the visionless officials, the MCK had encroached the Collectorate premises and acted as per their whims and fancies, causing more harm to the first integrated Collectorate office complex of the integrated Andhra Pradesh state, constructed more than 40 years ago.

Though there are vehicle parking sheds opposite the State Bank of India branch on the Collectorate premises, MCK has encroached the parking area and taken plantation of saplings and even erected fencing around it. Due to the non-availability of parking space, the vehicles of officials and visitors were forced to park on the roads, causing inconvenience to the errant MCK officials.
Green Space goes for parking
Ironically, the MCK officials, in collusion with the Collectorate AO and then district officials, had converted the green space adjacent to the Gandhi statue and opposite to the present Collector’s chamber into a parking space by erecting signboards. On the other hand, opposite to the said signboards, one can see the spacious parking place with sheds constructed way back four decades ago by the visionary administrators.
With the growing number of various modes of vehicles, including EV cars and two-wheelers, the parking woes would aggravate further in Karimnagar Collectorate and also in the entire Karimnagar town. As the MCK and traffic police are least bothered to remove the encroachment of footpaths and parking spaces on the ‘Smart City’, which are encroached by the vendors, traders and hotels.
Ironically, the MCK officials had removed the open urinals on the premises, which were constructed some decades ago and forced the people to urinate in the open on the premises. It is also surprising to note that the district officials had removed the urinals meant for men adjacent to the Collectorate auditorium, which had existed for over 40 years, on the pretext of smell during their visit to the weekly ‘Prajavani’ programme
If there is a smell emanating from the toilet, the authorities should ensure that they deploy a scavenger for its regular cleaning and ensure running water and spraying phenyl etc. But the closure is not the solution for the 40-year-old Collectorate auditorium toilet.
