NEW DELHI, MARCH 16, 2026: A high-level review meeting on the implementation of the National Cooperation Policy 2025 was chaired by Krishan Pal Gurjar at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting placed special emphasis on the progress and development of Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU), a proposed national institution aimed at strengthening cooperative education, research and professional training in India. Senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation participated in the deliberations, while representatives of the university joined the discussions virtually.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress made so far and stressed the need to accelerate efforts for the timely operationalisation of the university. He highlighted that strengthening the cooperative sector requires a strong institutional framework capable of delivering professional training, modern management practices and research-based policy support. TSU is envisioned as a premier institution that will nurture skilled professionals who understand both grassroots cooperative structures and emerging economic opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, rural finance and agri-business.
The proposed university is expected to offer specialised academic programmes in cooperative management, cooperative law, rural finance, agri-business and digital governance. Officials also discussed the academic structure, institutional partnerships and phased development strategy for the university. Once operational, TSU is expected to function as a national hub for research, innovation and capacity building in the cooperative sector, supporting policymakers, cooperative leaders and entrepreneurs. The meeting concluded with directions to expedite the implementation roadmap, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative movement under the vision of Sahkar se Samriddhi.
