JAGTIAL, MARCH 10, 2026: The NSS unit of S.K.N.R Government Arts & Science College, Jagtial town, in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, conducted ‘Viksit Bharat 2047 – Youth Parliament’ on the college campus on Tuesday.
As part of the Youth Parliament programme, an Elocution Competition on “50 Years of Emergency in India – Lessons for Democracy” was held to raise awareness among youth about the country’s democratic values.
Additional Collector (Revenue) B. S. Latha attended the programme as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. In her speech, she emphasised that youth should develop awareness about the Constitution, constitutional laws, and the Fundamental Rights and Duties of citizens. She also discussed the historical significance and challenges of the Emergency and emphasised the importance of protecting democratic values in the country. She urged students to acquire knowledge of the Constitution and actively participate in strengthening democracy.
Principal of the college, Ashok, stated that India has one of the largest youth populations in the world, with nearly 42 crore young people. He encouraged students to work hard, develop their abilities, and strive to reach higher positions in life.
Earlier, District Youth and Sports Officer Rambabu stated that the central government is focusing on empowering youth by providing better opportunities and skill development programs. He encouraged the youth to acquire global skills so that India can emerge as a superpower by 2047, fulfilling the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Programme Coordinator Prof. A. Srinivas expressed that organising the Youth Parliament Programme in collaboration with NYK at SKNR College is a proud moment for the institution and a valuable opportunity for students to learn about democratic governance.
The jury members for the elocution competition included Ravikumar (DYSO) and Srilatha. The programme was also attended by Lt. P Raju (NCC Officer), P. Bhoomesh (District Child Marriage Coordinator), G.V.R. Sai Madhukar, Ankam Goverdhan, K. Surender, G. Mahesh, Rajitha, Divyarani, Kavitha, Pramod, and other faculty members.
Around 120 NSS volunteers and students from across the district participated enthusiastically in the program. At the end of the event, certificates were distributed to all the participants.
