
CM Revanth Reddy, former CM KCR, Ministers and BRS leaders express condolences
The last rites will be performed with full state honours
HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 10, 2025: Eminent poet and Writer Ande Sri (64), who penned Telangana Anthem ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’, breathed his last on Monday while undergoing treatment at Gandhi hospital in Secunderabad.
He fell sick after his health deteriorated around midnight on Sunday. He collapsed at his house in Lalaguda, and his family members immediately shifted him to Gandhi Hospital. He breathed his last at around 7.30 am, the doctors said, according to reports.
Andesri, a noted poet, was born in Rebarthi in Jangaon, and his actual name was Ande Yellaiah. He is survived by three daughters and a son. He started his career as a shepherd and later as a construction worker. Despite having no formal schooling, he emerged as a popular poet and writer and was awarded a doctorate by Kakatiya University.

The work “Mayamai Pothunnadamma” brought him significant popularity. He played a crucial role in the separate Telangana agitation, and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had felicitated him on June 2 this year and presented a cash award of Rs one crore.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the demise of Andesri, who penned the Telangana State song “Jaya Jayahe Telangana”. He said the poet’s death was an irreparable loss to Telangana’s literature. His songs played a crucial role during the separate Telangana agitation, the Chief Minister said and recalled his association with him. He also expressed condolences to the bereaved family members of the poet.
The Chief Minister issued directions to the officials to perform his last rites with State Honours.
Meanwhile, BRS founder president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed deep shock over the demise of renowned poet and lyricist Ande Sri, who played a pivotal role in the cultural movement for Telangana’s statehood.
Recalling his association with the poet during the agitation, Chandrashekhar Rao said Ande Sri’s contribution through his songs and writings strengthened the spirit of the movement. He termed the poet’s death as an irreparable loss to Telangana. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Speaker Prasad Kumar, Deputy CM Mallu Batti Vikramarka, Ministers D Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Jupalli Krishna Rao, , Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Vakari Srihari, BRS leaders K Taraka Rama Rao, Harish Rao and others expressed their shock and grief over the sudden demise of the eminent poet, who encouraged the statehood movement through his songs.
