KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 25, 2025: Abstain or indulge? Fast or feast? Thrown in the nine days of celebrations are the obvious music, dance, family and friends. Worship, dance, celebrate, sing, restrain or release—Navratris bring out the true blue streak in each.
Accordingly, the ongoing Navratri celebrations at Sri Mahashakthi temple in Chaitanyapuri in Karimnagar town, with lively dandiya and garba events every night, have become a special attraction. The event was dedicated to celebrating the strength and spirit of women. The festival symbolises the triumph of good over evil, honouring Goddess Durga’s victory over demon Mahishasura. The colourful dandiya sticks represent the goddess’s sword in her battle against darkness.
Every day after 9 pm, the premises of Sri Mahashakthi temple reverberate with high-voltage music and dandiya and garba dances by the womenfolk. Though there are several Durga Puja pandals in the town, Sri Mahashakthi temple stands alone in organising festivities and dandiya and garba dances daily at night.
The importance of such cultural celebrations, stating they brought together different segments of society and fostered unity. “These events not only enrich the womenfolk’s understanding of diverse cultures but also strengthen community bonds,” the organisers say. They noted that these gatherings promoted cultural awareness among students and provided a platform for the community to come together.
