JAGTIAL, JUNE 2, 2025: The integrated health campaign to eradicate HIV/AIDS by 2030, which will be launched on June 3, 2025, and will continue until September 15, 2025, focuses on achieving the 95-95-95 targets.
These targets aim to have 95% of all people living with HIV know their status, 95% of all those with diagnosed HIV receive antiretroviral therapy, and 95% of those on treatment achieve viral suppression. This campaign is part of the global effort to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030, as outlined in the Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS adopted by United Nations Member States.
The “first stage” of the UNAIDS 95-95-95 campaign focuses on ensuring that 95% of all people living with HIV know their HIV status by 2025. This stage emphasises the importance of HIV testing and diagnosis to enable people to access treatment and care.
In a statement here on Monday, DMHO Dr K Pramod Kumar and district Additional DMHO and programme officer Dr N Srinivas said that the campaign would be launched by the Telangana government in association with National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) and National Aids Control Programme (NACP). Stating that the Jagtial district was having approximately 3847 persons with HIV\AIDS, they said that among them, around 3470 persons were visiting ART centres for treatment. As per NACO analysis, another 2574 persons were unable to avail medical treatment or identified as HIV\AIDS affected persons.
The officials said that they would launch an integrated health campaign in the problematic regions and appealed to the people to utilise the opportunity to eradicate AIDS in the country by 2030. They said that the RNTCP, HVHCP and NCDCP staff would participate in the health campaign.
