HYDERABAD, MARCH 06, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided the premises of a medical distributor named Sri Nandini Pharma in Sultan Bazar, Hyderabad, and seized stocks of Tetanus Vaccine and Oxytocin Injections for stocking them on racks at room temperature, which could potentially lead to the degradation of the products and the loss of potency of the injections.
Tetanus Vaccine and Oxytocin Injections are temperature-sensitive medicines that should be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C to maintain their efficacy. Storage at room temperature causes a loss of potency, and the use of such injections may adversely affect patients’ health, as they fail to produce the intended therapeutic effect. The DCA officials seized stocks containing two varieties of medicines worth Rs. 10,000 during the raid. T. Rajamouli, Assistant Director, Hyderabad and V. Ajay, Drugs Inspector, Goshamahal, are among the officers who carried out the raid. Mithinti Srinivas, Proprietor of Sri Nandini Pharma, was present during the raid. Further investigation will be carried out, and action will be taken as per the law against all offenders.
Raid Conducted at Unlicensed Premises in Hanumakonda
On March 5, 2025, officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, acting on credible information regarding the illegal stocking and sale of medicines, raided an unlicensed premises at Mahima Clinic, KUC Road, Hanumakonda. G. Pravin Kumar had been stocking drugs at the clinic for sale without a drug license.
During the raid, DCA officers detected the unauthorized stocking of a large quantity of medicines intended for sale. A total of 42 varieties of medicines were found at the premises, including expired drugs, habit-forming drugs, vaccines, antibiotics, and steroids etc. The officers seized the stock, worth Rs. 80,000. J. Kiran Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Hanumakonda carried out the raid under the supervision of Dr. G. Rajyalakshmi, Assistant Director, Warangal. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said that the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
