KARIMNAGAR, JULY 28, 2026: The Bhagathnagar locality in Karimnagar town resonated with the chants of ‘Jai Jagannath’ and ‘Haribol’, as tiny tots of Alphores e-techno school, Bhagathnagar, pulled the beautifully decked-up chariots carrying the idols of Lord Jagannath and his brother Lord Balabhadra and sister Subhadra on Tuesday.
The tiny tots donned the roles of Sri Jagannath, Lord Sri Krishna, Balabhadra and Subhadra and participated in pulling the chariot. The rath yatra commenced from the Alphores e-techno school and culminated at the Bhagath Singh statue.
Similarly, the students organised Pandaripura yatra (Pandharpur Yatra), which is an 800-year-old walking pilgrimage to the Sri Vittal Rukmini temple in Maharashtra state. The mock Pandharipura yatra was organised to teach students about Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage, the teachings of Bhakti Saints, and values of equality and community service.
The school also organised a Bonalu celebration, wherein teachers explained the importance of the festival, saying that the festival is usually celebrated during Ashada Masam, which falls in July/August. Special poojas are performed for goddess Yellamma during the first and last day of the festival. The festival is considered as a form of thanksgiving to the Goddess after the fulfilment of vows.
The little devotees from pre-primary, who were dressed in their traditional best, offered their Bonam to the Mother Goddess by decorating the Bonam. Using neem leaves for the Bonam gave it an authentic look. Children were excited to watch the story behind this tradition and also enjoyed dancing to the beats of the festive songs. It was a treat to the eyes of the passersby with the colourful performances by the students with Jagannath and Pandaripura yatras and Bonalu festival.
Alphores Educational Institutions chairman V Narender Reddy participated in the celebrations and stated that they had organised the programmes for spiritual awareness among the children.
