KARIMNAGAR, JULY 07, 2026: Contrary to the claims being made by the the State Election Commission that the 100 per cent completion of distribution of enumeration forms (EF) or processing applications as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls would be completed by July 7, there is not even 50 per cent distribution of the EFs in Karimnagar district in general and Karimnagar town in particular as on Tuesday (July 7, 2026).
The Election Commission has appointed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who will visit households and distribute pre-printed forms, one original and one duplicate. Electors have been instructed to fill in details of the form and return it to the BLO during their subsequent visits. Once the BLOs collect the forms, they will hand over an acknowledgement. The other copy of the form is to be retained by electors.
However, in Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, the distribution of EFs is not even completed by 50 per cent and still, electors are running from pillar to post to collect the forms. The BLOs had never visited the majority of localities, and they had remained at some central locality points and distributed the forms, who had approached them. As the majority of the voters, who do not know about the process, were worried about the collection and submission of forms to remain as electors.
The local elected representatives, such as municipal corporators, are not helping the voters to secure the EFs, fill them, and submit them to the BLOs. The voters are worried that the SIR would eliminate them as voters and they would not exercise their franchise in future.
Irked over the delay in the distribution of EFs to voters in Karimnagar town, BRS leader Sardar Sohan Singh from 58th municipal Division had submitted a petition to Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai to open a help desk and assured to deploy volunteers to guide the electors in securing the EFs and submission of the same. He also urged the MCK to conduct a special all-party meeting and division corporators and BLOs to ensure proper distribution of EFs and ensure that all eligible voters were included in the electoral list.
