MCK denies parking of vehicles in the decades-old parking sheds on the premises by erecting barbed fencing
If the MCK claims to be taking up plantation of saplings as part of protection of the environment on the premises, then why does it remain silent when the huge trees and other plantations taken up under ‘Pattana pakruthi vanams’ were chopped off by the contractors executing the gate for the new IDOC?
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 21, 2026: Thanks to the visionless officials of the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar, who have encroached upon the premises of the Collectorate by taking up plantation of saplings in the parking area and erection of barbed fencing, the spacious premises have been converted into a concrete jungle with haphazard parking of vehicles on the roads in and outside Collectorate premises.
For over four decades, there were no parking woes for the officials and the visitors of the Collectorate as there was abundant parking space at the allocated parking sheds for four-wheelers and at police out-post area for two-wheelers. But, the MCK officials have encroached the premises of the Collectorate and taken plantation of saplings on the parking lots and converted the lush green lawns into parking lots by destroying saplings as per their ‘whims and fancies’.
During a high-level committee to review deficit rainfall and El Nino impact in the integrated Karimnagar district on Sunday (July 19) by Ministers Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Adluri Laxman Kumar, Government whips Adi Srinivas and Ch Vijaya Ramana Rao and attended by all the legislators and officials of the integrated Karimnagar district, the Traffic police have restricted the entry of the vehicles into the premises and diverted the vehicles to the new Collectorate office building (IDOC) complex and others including media persons were forced to park the vehicles on the roads.
Incidentally, this is the first time that the vehicles were forced to park outside the Collectorate premises as the parking lots were encroached by the MCK by taking up plantation. Several meetings of Ministers, including Chief Ministers, had been conducted on the Collectorate premises, but there was no restriction on the movement of the vehicles into the premises, and there was abundant parking space.
Thanks to the unscientific execution of the plantation of saplings on the premises of the parking lot, MCK visitors have been forced to struggle for parking of their vehicles. The Collectorate premises house a State Bank of India (SBI) branch, a post office, Registration office, wherein several people visit the Collectorate for various official purposes. But, they are forced to search for parking space.
It is time for the district authorities to remove the encroachments taken up by the MCK on the Collectorate premises and allow adequate parking space for the vehicles. If the MCK claims to be taking up plantation of saplings as part of protection of the environment on the premises, then why does it remain silent when the huge trees and other plantations taken up under ‘Pattana pakruthi vanams’ were chopped off by the contractors executing the gate for the new IDOC?
