KARIMNAGAR, JULY 22, 2026: Mild tension prevailed in Karimnagar town when the District Congress leaders besieged the office of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar in Jyothinagar locality on Wednesday.
As part of the nationwide call to stage protest dharnas against the arrest of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and others in New Delhi on Tuesday, the Congress leaders led by Karimnagar in-charge Velchala Rajender Rao, former SUDA chairman K Narender Reddy and others arrived in hordes along with their supporters at the Union Minister’s office in Karimnagar town.

However, the police, who were present in large numbers, closed the BJP MP’s office. The Congress and BJP leaders engaged in verbal duels and hurled sticks and chairs and showed chappals against each other. Later, the police swung into action and arrested the protestors and shifted them to the police station.
Following the news, the DCC presidents and MLAs Medipalli Satyam and Kavvampalli Satyam and others proceeded towards the Union Minister’s office. The police foiled their attempts and arrested them at the court crossroads.
In the meantime, the BJP leaders led by Mayor Kolagani Srinivas and others met Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam and submitted a petition demanding action against the Congress leaders for making a vain bid to attack the BJP leaders at the Union Minister’s office.
On the other hand, the police had deployed additional police forces at the Indira Bhavan (Congress party office) and the BJP offices in Karimnagar town to avoid any untoward incidents.
