HYDERABAD, JULY 25, 2026: The Income Tax Department, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, organised a Walkathon on Saturday (July 25, 2026) at Sanjeevaiah Park, Necklace Road, Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad, to promote health awareness, fitness, and responsible citizenship among members of the community.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri Kidambi Srikanth, International Badminton Champion, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee, as the Chief Guest.
Shri Suresh Battini, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, welcomed the members of the Income Tax fraternity and participants. In his address, he highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and incorporating regular exercise into daily routines, particularly in the context of modern work environments that often contribute to lifestyle-related health challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Kidambi Srikanth emphasised the significance of physical fitness in achieving a healthy balance between body and mind. He stated that fitness plays a vital role in building resilience, focus, and a winning attitude.

Following the warm-up exercises, the Walkathon was formally flagged off by Kidambi Srikanth and Suresh Battini, marking the commencement of the event.
The Walkathon also served as a platform to create awareness among citizens regarding the importance of health, wellness, and collective responsibility towards nation-building. As part of the initiative, awareness was generated about the Jal Shakti – Catch the Rain Campaign, a new initiative of the Income Tax Department, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, aimed at promoting rainwater harvesting across the two States.
The campaign was conducted under the theme: “Kar ka Yogdaan – Rashtra Nirman; Jal ka Samrakshan – Bhavishya Nirman”, highlighting the role of individual contributions towards nation-building and the conservation of water resources for a sustainable future.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, officials, and participants for their enthusiastic participation and support in spreading awareness for the noble causes of health, environmental conservation, and responsible citizenship.
