Defacement of public property rampant with illegal posters and hoardings in Karimnagar
“If the employees are so concerned about Bathukamma festivities, they should also erect posters stating that they will discharge their duties transparently and with integrity without giving scope for corruption”
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 16, 2026: Come festival season, including national festivals, it is time for the law enforcement officials to openly flout norms on the Collectorate premises in Karimnagar town and erect vinyl posters on public properties, violating the norms issued by the state government.
Freshly, the employees of the Collectorate office premises have erected an illegal, pollution-causing vinyl poster on the premises of the newly inaugurated Integrated District Office Complex (IDOC), albeit the Collectorate in Karimnagar, on the eve of Bathukamma celebrations. In spite of clear instructions from the government and the Municipal authorities, the officials erected posters on public properties and caused visual pollution and defacement of the office building.
Thanks to the lethargy on the part of the officials, the illegal vinyl posters are rampant in several parts of Karimnagar town, including public properties. On the eve of the ensuing Bathukamma and Dasara festivities, the illegal posters and hoardings have been erected in various parts of the town, causing visual pollution and obstruction to road users.
People of the town have expressed concern over the growing problem, stating that unchecked defacement not only mars the city’s appearance but also reflects poorly on civic discipline. The locals say that the illegal posters and hoardings on the busy roads were causing a huge hindrance for the smooth movement of traffic and causing accidents, as the hoardings were encroaching on the roads and obstructing vehicular movement.
“How can law-enforcement officials erect illegal and pollution-causing vinyl posters on the premises of newly inaugurated IDOC for celebrating Bathukamma festivities? Everyone celebrates the Bathukamma festival in the entire Telangana state, and it does not mean that they should erect posters and hoardings and cause nuisance”, said a representative of Lok Satta Udyama Samstha Karimnagar district unit.
If the employees are so much concerned about Bathukamma festivities, they should also erect posters stating that they will discharge their duties transparently and with integrity without giving scope for corruption, the Lok Satta leader suggested. He advised the District authorities to launch a special drive against illegal hoardings and posters and impose heavy fines on the violators.
