HYDERABAD, JUNE 21, 2025: The 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 was celebrated at the Geological Survey of India Office, Bandlaguda-Nagole, Hyderabad, with zeal and enthusiasm on Saturday (June 21, 2025).
The celebrations were inaugurated by Dr. L.P Singh, Deputy Director General & HOD, in the presence of Mr S.N Mahapatra, D.D.G, Directors, Senior Officers, Officials and Employees of the GSI, Hyderabad. The theme of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025: Yoga for One Earth, One Health.

Addressing the participants, Dr. L.P Singh, emphasised the Role of Yoga in daily life. He eloquently outlined the theme of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025: Yoga for One Earth, One Health. He explained how the transformative power of yoga can enhance the well-being of Individuals and contribute to a harmonious society. He emphasised that Yoga is for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, faith, or culture. Yoga is truly universal. Dr. Singh apprised that yoga is essential for the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of an individual. He said, yoga is a way of life, a way to mindfulness in thoughts and actions, a way to live in harmony with self, with others and with nature. He cited the example of a young former IIT student, Saurabh Bothra, who took the initiative to raise awareness about the importance of yoga in daily life and appreciated his efforts in teaching yoga to over 112 lakh people to date.
Mr S.N Mahapatra, briefed about the series of yoga events conducted from 11th to 21st June 2025, starting with preparation boot camps from 11th to 19th June 2025 at GSI, Hyderabad office,
followed by a mega 24-hrs countdown event conducted on 20th June at L.B Stadium, Hyderabad, chaired by Shri. G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Mines & Coal. He also informed that the IDY-2025 is also being celebrated in the Geoheritage site at Mangampeta Barytes mine site and drilling camps and field training centres, and all other field camps of GSI today to make the large participation of local people in the event.
Yoga practice sessions were conducted in Kakatiya Multi-purpose hall, GSI, Hyderabad and a total of 150 employees participated in these sessions, including Mr Ajay Nirwan, D.D.G, RMH-III, Mr H.M Mishra, Director & HOO, Mr Apurba Banerjee, Director, PSS.
