PEDDAPALLI, JULY 30, 2026: In the wake of steady inflows into the Sripada Yellampalli Project in Ramagundam mandal from its catchment areas and the release of flood waters from the Kadem project in the neighbouring district, the irrigation officials have sounded a high alert downstream of the river Godavari about possible lifting of floodgates.
In a statement here on Thursday, P Ravindra Chary, Executive Engineer, Section 9, Ramgundam, said that the inflows into Yellampalli project would increase due to the release of flood waters from Kadem project and there is every possibility of lifting of floodgates. He alerted the farmers, fishermen, shepherds and others not to venture into the downstream of the river Godavari.
As on 9 am on Thursday, the Sripada Yellampally Project is having 13.265 tmcs of water against total capacity of 20.1754 tmcs. Present inflows from its catchment area are 48,013 cusecs. The officials are lifting 12,600 cusecs of water from the Nandi Medaram pump house into the Mid Manair Dam, and another 275 cusecs of water is being shifted to the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply Board.
