RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 25, 2026: A two-day workshop titled “English Edge – Communicate. Express. Succeed.” was inaugurated grandly on Friday at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College, Shatrajupalli Road, Vemulawada, under the aegis of the Department of English.
The workshop is being organised as part of the “100-Day Special Action Plan – Academic Empowerment Programme (AEP) for Government Degree Colleges” initiated by Satavahana University, in collaboration with the Department of English, Satavahana University.
N V. Sri Ranga Prasad, Principal of the University College of Commerce and Business Management and AEP Coordinator, Satavahana University, and Jasmine Theresa, District Coordinating Officer (DCO), TGSWREIS, Rajanna Sircilla District, attended the programme as the Chief Guests and formally inaugurated the workshop by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Training Sessions on Day One
In the first session, Vijay Prakash, Head of the Department of English, Satavahana University, conducted a session on “Verbal Communication and Speaking Skills.” He trained the students in speaking English clearly, using appropriate vocabulary, expressing ideas effectively, and developing confidence in communication.
In the second session, B. Nalini Kumari, English Lecturer, Government Polytechnic College, Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy, Sircilla, conducted a session on “Effective Writing Skills.” She highlighted the importance of effective writing skills in academic pursuits as well as in the professional and employment sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, the resource persons emphasized that students from rural backgrounds can make better use of opportunities in higher education and employment by developing proficiency in English and strengthening their communication skills. They stated that language proficiency, effective expression, and self-confidence play a crucial role in students’ career development in the present competitive world.
The programme was attended by P. S. R. Sharma, Principal and Convener; K. Lavanya, Vice Principal; K. Prasanna Latha, Coordinator; G. Rajini, Head of the Department of English and Co-Coordinator; K. Bhagyalakshmi and K. Sujitha, Co-Coordinators; student coordinators P. Soumya Mishra and B. Saritha, along with faculty members and students, who participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
