KARIMNAGAR, JULY 31, 2026: Thanks to the incessant rains during the past three days following the impact of the cyclone, the projects in the north Telangana region are receiving copious inflows into the project.
The Sripada Yellampalli Project in Ramagundam mandal had been receiving heavy inflows since Thursday morning following the lifting of the Kadem project and from its catchment area, forcing the irrigation authorities to lift the flood gates to discharge surplus into the river Godavari.
At 4 pm on Friday, the irrigation authorities have lifted 15 out of 62 floodgates to release 80,280 cusecs of water downstream into the river Godavari. The project is receiving 80,893 cusecs of water from its catchment area. The present capacity of the project is 18.6194 tmcs of water against the full storage capacity of 20.1754 tmcs of water. The water level is 147.44 meters against the full reservoir level of 148 meters.
Presently, the inflows from the Kaddem project have been stopped following the closure of flood gates. About 15,750 cusecs of water is being pumped from the Nandi pump house to the Mid Manair project, and 80,280 cusecs of water is discharged into the river downstream.
In the meantime, the lifeline of north Telangana SRSP in Nizamabad district is also receiving inflows into the project following the rains in its catchment areas of Nirmal and Maharashtra state. The project was receiving 75,000 cusecs of water, and presently the water storage is 21.7 tmcs against its full storage capacity of 80.5 tmcs of water.
Similarly, the Mid Manair Dam in Rajanna-Sircilla district is also receiving inflows into the project from the ongoing life operations from Yellampalli and catchment areas of Mulavagu
The Lower Manair Dam in Karimnagar district is also receiving inflows from its catchment areas from the Upper Manair Dam and Moyathummeda rivulet.
